Ernst van den Hemel is the project leader of MAKEBELIEF. Additionally, he is a senior researcher at NL-LAB/Meertens Institute and lectures at Utrecht University. He is also the chair of the Dutch Association for the Study of Religion.

Rachèl Blokhuis-Koopman is Phd researcher in MAKEBELIEF. She researches religion and theme parks in the United States, with an emphasis on the Creation Museum and Dollywood.
Aysenur Korkmaz is postdoctoral researcher in MAKEBELIEF. She focuses on religion, heritage and theme parks in Turkey.
Lukas Vonhout studies Religious Studies at Utrecht University. He works as intern for MAKEBELIEF. He researches Islam and immersive media in the Netherlands.
